SGAI Wheeled Substation Inspection Robot
Overview
SGAI (formerly Luneng Intelligent), co-held by GEIRI and State Grid Shandong, is the birthplace of China's first substation inspection robot, with roots in the country's first high-voltage live-line working robot developed in 2002. Backed by the State Grid's only key laboratory of power robotics, it has built a 'power robot family' of 7 series and 20+ categories. Per official 2025 data, 5,094 substation inspection robots are in operation across State Grid, of which 3,034 outdoor wheeled units serve all 27 provincial companies. The wheeled robot patrols substations autonomously for visible-light meter reading, infrared thermography and equipment defect diagnosis, supported by an end-to-cloud full-stack AI solution and China's largest power-equipment image sample library.
