Overview
“Xiaodi” is BYD’s (002594) first consumer-facing service humanoid. BYD has officially confirmed that its first humanoid will debut in August 2026 at its “Di Space” new-energy vehicle experience centers (Zhengzhou hall, about 15,000 m²) with real-environment human interaction; early tasks are expected to include greeting, vehicle introduction and product explanation, using the showroom as a real-world interaction testbed. BYD executive vice president Li Ke said it may later enter dealer stores (2–3 per store). Media-reported details: about 1.61 m tall, about 58.5 kg, 31 DOF (7-DOF hands), ±1 mm dexterous-hand repeat positioning, about 1 kg grasp, 360° vision with dynamic 3D environment mapping, face/gesture/lip-reading recognition, and real-time interaction in six Chinese dialects and six foreign languages. Note: as of 2026-08-13, BYD has not officially confirmed the “Xiaodi” name or these specs — treat them as pre-launch disclosures. BYD began embodied-AI hiring in late 2024; in June 2026 Li Ke disclosed large-scale investment in humanoid robots.
