Tencent Xiaowu (The Five)

Overview

Xiaowu (No. 5, 'The Five') is Tencent Robotics X lab's living-environment robot unveiled in September 2024, the fifth generation of its robotics research. Its four wheel-legged limbs combine wheeled efficiency with legged obstacle crossing, switching between four-wheel and two-wheel modes and folding autonomously for transport. Arms carry large-curvature tactile skin with 180 sensing points, multi-finger dexterous hands and self-developed dual-encoder high-torque-density actuators; driven by LiDAR SLAM and whole-body control, it has demonstrated fetching deliveries and lifting elderly residents in a care-home setting.
